"I met Mike when I was out in London to celebrate my friend Mandy's birthday. I saw a cute guy across the room and a short while later he struck up a conversation with our group. Mike and I ended up chatting the rest of the night and exchanged numbers when the bar closed. I later found out that Mike had noticed me across the room as well. Mike said he couldn't believe that I had never been married and he knew that there was something special about me from the moment we met..."
"...A few weeks after we started dating, I got caught in a snowstorm when driving out to the countryside where Mike lived. My car got stuck in a snowdrift and Mike tried to come and get me, but his truck got stuck in a snowdrift, too. Luckily, we were both prepared with plenty of warm clothing. We walked towards each other and I heard him calling my name before I could see him in the blinding snow. When he found me he gave me a hug and said, "I love you." We trudged about 7 km through snow drifts to his house. He was encouraging and supportive and got us there safely. I ended up snowed in for the weekend because Mike lived in the snowbelt area. Mike was very respectful and took care of me by keeping the wood stove going and making me food. I knew then that he was someone I could always depend on and trust. We really started to build our friendship and our relationship that weekend."
July 21st was the day that these two tied the knot. The gorgeous summer day was full of light, love and positivity. These two are truly the perfect match.
We got to see these two get married at Caradoc Sands Golf Club in Strathroy and spent the rest of the evening there as well. With an incredibly delicious meal and beautiful decor, this was a night to remember.
This stunning cake was made by Isn't Life Sweet in Wyoming. "We had a birch tree cake with the Willow Tree "Promise" cake topper. I love dancing with Mike, so I thought that a cake topper of a couple dancing would be perfect. We also had chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with edible butterflies."
The wedding colours were blue and purple, which was carried throughout all of the decor at the venue, as well as Stephanie's bouquet by Forest of Flowers. "I love brightly coloured flowers, so I included my blue and purple colour scheme in the flowers. When I heard that the stephanotis flower means happiness in marriage and a desire to travel, I thought it was perfect for Mike's boutonniere. Mike agreed and commented, "Because Steph noticed me." Mike likes gerber daisies so we incorporated white gerber daisies into the centerpieces with some blue, purple and silver gemstones for some added bling in the vases. The flower girls had white roses and butterflies in their wands. My mom couldn't be at my wedding because she passed away 15 years ago, so I included a photo of my mom on her wedding day in my bouquet."
Stephanie and Mike did some DIY for their day as well. The invitations were made from purple butterfly stationary and gems, while their wooden place card holders and place cards were DIY too.
"Mike had planned to propose in Sarnia by the water because I am from Sarnia and we went for walks along the water when we were dating. However, he accidentally let that idea slip, so he thought he should change his plan. The day after he picked up the ring from James O. Poag Jewellers in Strathroy, he decided he couldn't wait. We went to dinner at Muldoon's Pizza in London and Mike proposed. Muldoon's was a special place to Mike because he worked there as a teenager and continues to go there several times of year for dinner. My favourite food is pizza so I guess he thought it would be the way to my heart. Mike was more nervous than expected so he didn't have a special speech prepared, but he makes up with all the sweet compliments that he gives me every day."
"The night I met Mike, I told him about some of my travel adventures, such as trips to Australia and Ireland. He told me that if I want adventure I should stick with him. That's why we decided to put "Let the Adventure Begin" on our wedding favours (can coolers/can koozies). My friend Clara at Gifts by Giffy made the wedding favours in our colours of blue and purple."
